So I was having this problem whenever I tried to adopt some sort of new online technology, like hosting a gallery of pictures, or reading peoples' blogs. I couldn't decide if I wanted to use some online service that was already set up, or to intall a service on my own web page. Becuase it it much more time intensive to do maintain the software and do the hosting yourself, the choice came down to whether it was my content, somethign I felt like I wanted to own. In those cases I would use my own service. (And by "my own service" I of course mean a friends server and Bandwidth that I rarely pay for.)
For expamle, I've installed Gallery to host my pictures and Wordpress to host my blog on "my" server. But, i use bloglines to read RSS feeds, and just started using del.icio.us to host my bookmarks.... So. This was a long way of saying, here is my del.icio.us bookmark list:
